Michelle Dawson named Employment Law Partner of the Year 2023

Michelle Dawson

LawyersWeekly hosted their annual black-tie event at The Star in Sydney last night, where they celebrated exceptional legal professionals at their Partner of the Year awards.

Emplawyer is thrilled to announce our Managing Principal, Michelle Dawson, took out the coveted Employment Law Partner of the Year award for 2023.

With an illustrious career that spans almost 27 years of working in law firms (including some of Australia’s most well-regarded mid-tier commercial law firms) where she honed her expertise in and passion for all aspects of employment, industrial relations and discrimination law, Michelle founded and established Emplawyer in 2022.

“I’m thrilled and genuinely humbled by this recognition,” comments Michelle. “When I created Emplawyer, I did it for my clients above anything else. I wanted to do it differently, for them. Emplawyer is and will always be about clients first – this is what we strive to achieve, day in and day out. Industry recognition such as through this Employment Law Partner of the Year award, is simply an unexpected but delightful bonus.”

“I’m proud of the reputation and relationships I’ve created with my clients where they can trust that, after more than 20 years of practicing exclusively in the employment law space across all sectors, I’ll be responsive, give the right, outcome-focussed advice (with their businesses and all relevant practicalities in mind), in a way which is easy to understand and implement. I am also extremely proud of and thankful for my amazing team of powerhouse women and mums, who make it easy for me to give our clients what they need and have come to expect, day in and day out,” concludes Michelle.

LawyersWeekly editor, Jerome Doraisamy, commented last night at the awards ceremony, “The calibre of winners named tonight speaks to the extraordinary capacities and skill sets of senior leaders right across the legal profession in Australia.”

“The market continues to experience uncertainty and volatility, but partners and partner equivalents continue to serve the community with aplomb, demonstrating exceptional leadership at a time that it is needed most,” concludes Jerome.
